Event Type:
Panel Discussion
Organizer/Author:
Location Details:
Berkeley Fellowship of Unitarian Universalists’ Hall

Please break bread with Cynthia Papermaster, who is ending her 84 day hunger strike in solidarity with Gitmo and SHU prisoners, and participate in a forum on ending U.S.-sponsored torture, indefinite detention, solitary confinement and mass incarceration. Guests invited include former Pelican Bay SHU prisoners (now UC students), lawyers for Gitmo and Pelican Bay prisoners, human rights leaders, musicians, poets, artists, plus compelling short videos-- including of fellow hunger striker Andres Conteris (60 days, water only!) being force fed in front of the White House at noon on Sept 6.

She’ll introduce the campaign to bring Djamel Ameziane to Berkeley, held at Guantanamo since 2002 and cleared for release in 2008. Our community welcomes him, all expenses paid by private citizens of Berkeley.

Bring healthy food to share: organic bread, wine, and vegan food, if you wish.
