Film Premiere of "Infinity & Chashu Ramen"
at The Rio Theater
1205 Soquel Avenue, Santa Cruz
Doors open at 1 pm. Screening begins at 1:30 pm.
Unseen spirits roam the streets of Japantown, a sleepy little neighborhood nestled in the heart of San Francisco. A mischievous 400-year-old spirit named Tenshi has watched over the neighborhood by himself for generations but today he is getting a new, unwanted apprentice - young Lucy Yamaguchi. Together, they will wander in and out of the lives of the unsuspecting residents, altering the course of their existence as they try to keep the universe running smoothly. The characters and their interwoven stories will entertain you, Lucy and Tenshi will make you laugh and this film will introduce you to the hidden gem that is San Francisco's Japantown.
The program will open with a short film "The Virtues of Corned Beef Hash." World War II veteran Joe Yokai has led a quiet solitary existence until a chance encounter with a young reporter. The pair bond over a series of breakfasts and the walls that Joe has built begin to crumble as they become friends.
There will be a Q&A after the feature presentation with director/writer Kerwin Berk, actor Hiroshi Kashiwagi and the rest of the cast and crew.
