Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) is a grassroots animal liberation group that seeks to challenge speciesist culture and end the slaughter of animals in the US. We take a historically informed approach to our activism and are inspired by others who took nonviolent direct action, from abolitionist William Lloyd Garrison to civil rights advocate Martin Luther King Jr. to AIDS activist Bob Rafsky. Above all, we dream big: animal liberation is possible and will happen with our effort. Only a few months old, we're growing exponentially and are already making waves. We'd love to have you join us.
Lauren Gazzola, SHAC7 Defendant and current plaintiff in the Center for Constitutional Rights' challenge of the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act, will give a short video presentation on the importance of faith in movement building.
We will have an open discussion of Lauren's talk afterwards, then move straight into our biweekly Open Meeting. As with all our Open Meetings, we will discuss our organizing principles, talk about recent DxE actions, and ask for your ideas on activism.
You can find out more about DxE and this event on facebook (https://www.facebook.com/events/395316210577884/) and on our website (http://directactioneverywhere.com/).
