The KPFA 6 p.m. news also missed the labor contingent, which was waiting for 4 hours next to our Manning Contingent, with their truck and van. There was also a huge union van, the size of a mobile blood donation van, waiting to join the labor contingent, near our Manning Contingent.

In addition, on the BART strike, they give us the corporate style of news of interviewing the passengers who do not stay home as they should but rather find other ways to get across the Bay, instead of interviewing the workers, as did Workweek Radio at 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. on Monday, July 1. IT IS THE WORKERS WHO SUFFER THE MOST AS THEY HAVE NO PAYCHECK!

As to wages, it takes $120,000 a year or $60 per hour to buy a house in the SF Bay Area and you cannot support a family without a house, so BART workers are not making enough money at all. The BART workers have an excellent website with a must see video at

It is a sign of LACK OF LABOR CONSCIOUSNESS when any worker joins a CORPORATE CONTINGENT as all profits are our stolen labor. The workers at Google will find out this bitter reality when they demand higher wages and are rejected. The same is true for all the other corporate contingents none of which has any business being in this parade.

After the Pride march, Manning's supporters staged a disruption of military recruiters who set up booths targeting pride attendees for potential enlistment. The Brass Liberation Orchestra marching band, and other Manning supporters, surrounded the military booths, playing music and chanting so loudly that they drowned out the recruiters. Manning's supporters then formed a semi-circle around the recruitment booth to insulate Pride attendees from the recruiters.

Manning was initially slated to be Grand Marshal of this massive LGBTQ celebration, but the SF Pride board rescinded the honor in early June, with the board president declaring Manning a 'traitor.'

The SF Pride board then invited the U.S. military to actively recruit at this massive celebration, marking the first official military recruitment in the festival's history.

WE NEVER HEARD ON KPFA THAT THIS MILITARY RECRUITING WAS SHUT DOWN BY THE MANNING CONTINGENT NOR THAT IT WAS THE FIRST TIME THERE WAS MILITARY RECRUITING AT THE GAY CELEBRATION. Here is the June 25, 2013 announcement that this recruiting would take place:

San Francisco Pride is welcoming military recruiters to this massive June 30th LGBTQ celebration, the media exposed Tuesday. The revelation comes just weeks after the Pride board officially dumped Wikileaks whistleblower Bradley Manning as the Grand Marshal.

...people. For the first time ever, the CHP did recruitment at Fresno's Pride. The agency also provided traffic control for the parade, taking over for our local police department. Our local police provided traffic control for years, but was told it could no longer do so this year.
