Joel Valesquez, Oakland school parent and organizer of Lakeview Elementary School Sit-in
Public services and public education are under assault from the Oakland Schools to Oakland city services and water in Richmond.
This forum will discuss who is doing the privatization and outsourcing and what labor and working people should do about it.
In the Oakland schools, rampant corruption is now combined with the elimination of public schools which began under former Mayor Jerry Brown.
These privatizers are embedded in the government and making money off the destruction
fo public schools. The City of Oakland is outsourcing public jobs and turning them over to contractors who have financial connections to the city.
These privatizers are being helped by government officials who themselves have financial interests in outsourcing and profiting from privatization.
The future of public education and all public services is at stake and labor needs a united campaign of education and action to stop this privatization and union busting.
The United Public Workers For Action UPWA is a national network that is fighting to defend
public services and public education.
