SF Pride No Longer Represents Transgender Community?
It is common knowledge that SF Pride rejected Bradley Manning, as a Grand Marshal for this years' celebration. It is believed that Bradley Manning is transgender. Many people in the United States say he is a hero, while some view him as a traitor.
Even though veteran Grand Marshals voted him in, SF Pride President Lisa Williams went on the record and said "it was a mistake and never should have happened."
But what is more disconcerting is that the San Francisco Pride Committee does not appear to have any transgender people on their staff nor Board of Directors.
I was informed that a TG person, who is college educated and a military veteran was rejected for employment by SF Pride staff. This person has been living in homeless shelters, and the job would have put a roof over her head.
So many people in the local Trans community now state SF Pride does not represent nor care for the TG community.
One can conclude that their mission statement has been ignored "The Mission of the San Francisco Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Celebration Committee is to educate the world, commemorate our heritage, celebrate our culture, and liberate our people."
Additionally this years theme is "Embrace, Encourage and Empower."
