Sleep-Out Continues For Second Night
Interviews with Cody, Freedom, and Andrew, three of the visible sleepers who were in last night's protest will be speaking about the issues at the Sub Rosa Cafe Tonight from 8 to 9 PM, and then in front of the post office continuing the Sleep-Out for a second night.
The interviews both lived and taped from last night are archived at http://www.radiolibre.org/brb/brb130418.mp3.
Freedom encourages anyone who wants to contribute food, blankets, or other supplies to come on down or leave a message at 831-423-4833.
I also include a survey that folks may want to fill out and bring to the "Arm the Homeless" forum on Saturday at 2 PM at the Sub Rosa Cafe at 703 Pacific.

And there were 3 people sleeping on the steps, no signs, and no FNB or Robert or any indication there was any 'sleep in'. The party must have showed up later. I HOPE the people who were sleeping weren't too annoyed.

Homeless activists must start scrutinizing SCPD Deputy Chief Steve Clark's oversight of SCPD harassment of the poor and homeless, as well as his role in breaking up peaceful First Amendment protected protests against City Council homeless criminalization.
From his comments on other forums, Steve Clark seems to despise disabled people — 63% of the homeless interviewed in Santa Cruz County reported having disabilities in the recent ASR survey of the Santa Cruz County homeless population.

There are at least 1000 disabled homeless people in Santa Cruz right now. Steve Clark wants to make criminals out of them. If he is Mayor of Santa Cruz, we can expect more cuts in the few homeless services local government provides for these disabled people. We can expect more paramilitary sweeps of homeless camps.
It's time to organize to protect the (disabled) homeless in expectation of Steve Clark's run for Mayor. 1000 disabled homeless people cannot afford for us to be behind the curve.

These campers are actually not a group of santa cruz homeless but a brave band of travelers from so-cal who've stated "we want to make it so uncomfortable for the citizens of Santa Cruz that they'll HAVE to notice us." They're being used by Robert "where's my hug?" Norse.
This is classic Norse agitation.
Norse pays lip service to the Sanctuary Camp movement then retires to Felton each night.
As the So-Cal travelers rack up anti-sleeping tickets.

[Note to RN: 'Shelter-In Place' is a Homeland Security phrase that SHOULD NOT be used by activists]
As of last night the local crew of co-dependents had driven out the fresh-faced resisters, as is the norm when feudal locals encounter anarchic travelers. I saw one young woman who affiliates with Robert's cult sleeping near her hula hoop but the other 2, 3, 4, were no longer the crew I saw on the first night.
BTW... LUVED the codependent line-up for a CAR-DELIVERED, NON-SCAVENGED Progressive liberal delivered "FoodNotBombs" yesterday. Reminded me of the line up at the shelter meals... with the same people who'd line up there. Maybe the shelter can fund it (snigger).

Firstly, what other forums is Steve Clark commenting on besides Sentinel articles?
Secondly, Mayors aren't elected here in the fair burg of Santa Cruz.
The city council is elected and whomever gets the most amount of votes is "chosen" by the council to be elected the following year. Unless they are first-timers and then they skip a year... or something like that.
During the last election Don Lane was the highest vote getter so he'll likely be mayor next year.
Steve Clark is a deputy chief of police. He has been known to be physically abusive to homeless persons.

The 'sign up list' ordinance (used as an excuse to prosecute peaceful protest of an unjust law, in court trials) is clearly a lie. Knowingly.
Officers are paid to lie (it is part of their job).
Are executives, legislators, and courts in the business of formalized lies, too?
I'm surprised how little discussion there is of travelers, rumored to be felons, arriving in town and abusing Santa Cruz. Like TBSCians. Oh, right, they spend 'a lot of money', so they get to remove citizens, by any means necessary.
The consent of the governed is a fragile thing.
