Date:
Wednesday, February 13, 2013
Time:
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Event Type:
Meeting

Location Details:
South Berkeley Senior Center
2939 Ellis Street, corner of Ashby

The Berkeley police review commission is going to be discussing a possible drone policy for the city of Berkeley.

This is an open meeting with public comment.

Seattle WA sent their drones back to manufacturer due to public request.

However in Southern California, there is a drone flying in the manhunt for Dorner.

Don't let police drones fly over Berkeley.

The Berkeley City Council decided well over a month ago that Berkeley is a drone free city and will not permit drones in it's air space.

I was just informed the City Council did not pass the "no-drone" policy recommended by the Peace and Justice Commission and the item will come back following more discussion. A distinction was made (though no policy yet) to limit drone use to emergency and rescue operations.

At this time is unclear when the issue will be back on the Council's agenda.

The use of words" Emergency and Rescue" is vague. Drones cannot by their nature rescue anything.......and emergency situation, all they can do is maybe notify someone of a disaster. How about getting real people to do this job.

How about hiring real people and not using automation to eliminate people's jobs.
