Dr. Allam Jarrar of the Palestine Medical Relief Society, and Dr. Ruchama Marton of the Physicians for Human Rights/Israel, will speak about health and human rights in Israel-Palestine.
The Palestine Medical Relief Society maintains health centers, mobile clinics and rehabilitation programs in Occupied Palestine, and also trains women as health workers. Dr. Jarrar was instrumental in launching Palestinian civil society's call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanction in 2005.
Dr. Marton won the Right Livelihood Award in 2010. She observed Gaza's hospitals in 1988, motivating her to bring these conditions to light and advocate for systemic change, founding Physicians for Human Rights/Israel. The organization focuses on health in Occupied Palestine and Israel, including serving Bedouins in "unrecognized villages." Dr. Marton is also a veteran fighter for women's rights.
Their two organizations collaborate closely, especially assisting transport patients through the barriers imposed by the Occupation.
