Last year on October 25th, Oakland police violently evicted Occupy Oakland, arresting nearly 100 people. Later that day, hundreds of people regathered at Oscar Grant Plaza where they clashed with militarized police who used tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bangs to disperse protesters. Scott Olsen, an Iraqi veteran-turned-activist, was hit with a flash bang canister and nearly died.
This year, Occupy Oakland will attempt to 'retake the plaza' and hold a massive FTP march. NYC (as well as a few other cities) will march in solidarity.
Bring your flags, banners and boots and meet at 91st and 3rd at 7pm for an autonomous FTP march through East Harlem. Be prepared to take the streets.
