We are a working group comprised of 16 community activists, meeting every Tuesdaqy at the SF Public Library, to defeat the 4th attempt of SFPD (since 2004) to secure a contract with Tasers International, INC.
50,000 volts per zap !
Tasers have claimed 532 lives in the US since 2001.
Particularly at risk are :
* People with mental health issues
* Seniors
* Children
* Pregnant women
* Undocumented Laborers
* Diabetics
* The Homeless
* people with small body weight
* People with cardiac probems
* People with metabolic disirders
* People with Osteoporosis
* Substance users and alcoholics
* People already impacted by the No Sit/Lie Ordinance since Feb.2011
* People with AIDS
* Hemophyliacs
We have only one month left before the SF Police Commission will take a vote on whther or not approving tasers for SFPD
