October 4th, 2012 is International Day of Action to Stop Smart Meters.
These digital automatic reading meters have caused house fires, injuries to health, have displaced people from their homes, raised bills, violated people's privacy, have removed utility workers with expertise in recognizing gas leaks like the one that blew up San Bruno from our neighborhoods when meter readers were eliminated, and damage to bees and plants have also been observed. No energy savings as claimed by the utilities have materialized since the installation of these meters. For more information about the dangers of so-called 'Smart' meters, see http://smartmeters.org
