Lyrics: ~~~~~~~~~~~~LYRICS~~~~~~~~~~~~
Label GM Food Right Now!
(Sung to the tune: The Battle Hymn of the Republic)
Mine eyes have seen the dangers
Of those awful GMOs.
They are being forced upon us
By agri~biz~ness, ya know.
Addicting farmers to weed killers
Polluting communities, -- oh no!!! (EVERYONE)
Our government’s not protecting us!
(refrain)
We don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM food!
Selling it unlabeled is dece~ptive and rude!
We don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM food
Label GM food right now!
~~~
Consumers want food labeled
So we know what IS inside.
If GMOs are good for us
Why do they have to hide?
Why not label GMOs
Let shoppers decide.
We have the right to know!
(refrain)
We don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM food!
Selling it unlabeled is dece~ptive and rude!
We don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM food!
Label GM foods right now!
~~~
We’ve seen big corporations
Patent public’s precious seeds.
Farmers sued for saving those
They used to fre~ely breed.
Failure of our government
To serve people over greed.
Is killing our democracy!
(refrain)
We don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM food!
Selling it unlabeled is dece~ptive and rude!
We don’t want to eat Monsanto’s GM food!
Label GM food right now!
Label GM food right now!

Label GM food RIGHT NOW!

Supporters of Proposition 37, which would require labeling on foods contacting genetically modified organisms (GMOs), are facing an uphill battle. Despite polling that shows overwhelming public support for their position, they’re bracing for an expected onslaught of misleading and misinformed advertising as Monsanto, Pepsi and other Big Food companies pour millions of dollars into a war chest to defeat the measure. Running the campaign will be some of the same names that the tobacco industry has used over the years to defend their industry. You can expect to see lots of “astro-turf” citizens’ groups making the case for these industrial mega-corporations.
