Hundreds rally at Obama campaign offices for PFC Bradley Manning, vets arrested
OAKLAND CA (August 16, 2012) -- Six veterans and activists in Oakland, CA, and six more in Portland, OR, were arrested last night at Obama campaign offices for occupying the spaces in solidarity with accused WikiLeaks whistle-blower PFC Bradley Manning. Dozens of veterans and anti-war demonstrators coordinated a West Coast set of actions that also included protests in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Seattle.
Among the approximately 100 Oakland protesters was Iraq War veteran Scott Olsen, who participated in the sit-in, said, “We need more of this type of action if Bradley’s going to get the attention he deserves. We demonstrate for Bradley because he sacrificed for us, doing what was right despite potentially spending the rest of his life in jail.”
In Los Angeles, an Iraq War veteran explained why he supports the Nobel Peace Prize nominee: “Generals say Bradley Manning put lives at risk, but they’re the ones who put us at risk, keeping these things secret and lying us into war.”
Protesters delivered a letter to campaign staff members, which they requested be sent to President Obama at the main campaign headquarters in Chicago. The letter makes its demands clear: that President Obama pardon PFC Bradley Manning, accounting for both his abusive treatment in a Quantico prison cell and the president’s own unlawfully prejudicial remarks that Bradley “broke the law.”
Campaign staff eventually agreed to email it to the national headquarters. Still, several activists remained in each city awaiting President Obama's response to their demands, and police eventually took six in Oakland and six in Portland into custody.
Veterans are calling for similar actions nationwide during the Democratic National Convention, and for rallies at Ft,. Meade, MD when Bradley returns to court on August 28, and again on October 1.

Shame on us.
The political persecution of Julian Assange is not worthy of a free society.
Perhaps Ms Clinton needs a reminder of how the US embassy in China kept Chen Guangcheng safe until he could reach freedom.
Perhaps Mr. Obama the constitutional scholar needs a reminder of the constitutional right to free speech.
Tell officials we're watching, and that we support Assange and Ecuador.

The only time Whistle Blowing is illegal is if it is
exposing corruption within the Obama administration;
and in my opinion, there is plenty there to go around!

The picture purporting to be the president on the wall shows a white face. The Democratic Party will do anything to keep the Reds and Greens out of office, the only reason it exists. The new low is that they show a black person as a white person. I can hear the excuses: It's the makeup; the artist did the highlights wrong or ran out of the right colors; they ran out of photographs; etc. Mr. Hope Change has about 45% support in the polls, and that can only be on the basis of his party registration and color, not because we got any hope or change. His Republican twin gets about the same. Hope Change proudly announced in San Francisco before any trial took place that Bradley Manning was guilty, but he did not say what he was guilty of doing. Bradley Manning is a hero and you should vote for the parties that think he is a hero: Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party.
Portland held multiple actions in solidarity with the national Free Bradley Manning protest on 8.16.12 {In Portland = closed 4 military recruiting centers in th Portland area}
{and} The actions ended with 5 arrested at Obamas HQ in Portland
