The People Unite Against Racist Police Violence

Friday, August 10, 7pm
2969 Mission St., San Francisco

On the morning of May 6, Alan Blueford was shot dead by the Oakland Police Department. The coroner's report indicated that two shots were fired into his back. According to several witnesses, Blueford was unarmed.

Blueford's murder is only the latest in an epidemic of police killings around the Bay Area. The murder of two Latino men on two consecutive days in Anaheim, California, underlines the fact that racist police killings are a systemic problem across the country, with the victims predominantly African American and Latino youth. But communities have started fighting back.

Hear reports and participate in a discussion on police brutality and the fight back against the recurring police murder of unarmed men.

Join us for discussion on this important issue.

El Pueblo se Une Contra la Violencia Racista Policial

viernes, 10 de agusto, 7pm
2969 Calle Mission, San Francisco

How do we improve police? And what do we wish them to be? Of course it is a lot easier to talk about improving police than doing it. For the most part, police throughout the world are the same. And the same insights and direction for improving them hold true. Police should be well-trained, restrained in their use of force, honest, and courteous to all. To take a look at how to improve police, see “Arrested Development: A Veteran Police Chief Sounds Off About Protest, Racism, Corruption and the Seven Steps Necessary to Improve Our Nation’s Police” (Amazon.com in US and EU). My blog is "improvingpolice" at Wordpress where I discuss these and other current police improvement issues. Good luck and may we all experience not just good but great policing!
