Free MUNI for Youth Call to Action
We're Fired Up and We Won't Back Down!
Last week the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), the Bay Area's regional transit board, voted 8-7 to deny San Francisco funding for Free Muni for Youth. The MTC has a long history of being unaccountable, prioritizing pet capital projects over the needs of low-income transit riders. Despite these obstacles, POWER and our allies were able to build significant support on the Board. With another push we may be able to win funding from the MTC.
POWER is reaching out to invite you to a special community and ally meeting about the strategy and next steps at this critical stage for Free Muni for Youth. We will lay out our strategy moving forward and some key support we need in the coming month. Bring any questions or ideas you want to share. Allies, organizers, members, youth, and all transit riders welcome!
