Vice Films in North Korea — Two Films
by Vice Films
Film I: Inside North Korea
Vice Films co-founder Shane Smith managed to get into North Korea after a year and half of trying and is witness to the craziness of this hermit nation. Every place Shane went is weird and creepy. Crazy is actually an understatement.
Film II: Vice Film Guide to North Korea
Shane Smith, co-founder of Vice Films, visits North Korea to try and penetrate the Korean Feature Film Studio, the state-run film production facility west of Pyongyang: a sprawling lot that at its height produced around 40 films a year. Kim Jong Il loved film more than anything — so Vice Films takes a look at his 20,000 strong movie collection, his seven personal cinemas, and the North Korean film industry which he built and sat at the top of.
