Anyone who has lived in San Francisco for more than a few years, and especially anyone who has had to look for rental housing in that time, has likely noticed a significant rise in rents.

And there are more people competing for a limited supply of housing, sometimes lining up and even offering more than the listed rent for the units available. Many think this situation is directly related to a large influx of young, highly paid people, especially from the tech industry.

The folks from the Occupy SF Housing Working Group will lead a discussion about how this has come about and what we might do about it. This offshoot of Occupy SF has been very active and successful in fighting foreclosures and is mounting some creative campaigns to fight against tenant harassment, condo conversions and loss of low income housing. Please join us for a discussion that will really hit home for a lot of us.

Young people working 70 hour weeks in the tech industry are not the 1%. That's just unfair.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
