Z is a 1969 French language political thriller that presents a thinly fictionalized account of the events surrounding the assassination of democratic Greek politician Grigoris Lambrakis in 1963. With its satirical view of Greek politics, its dark sense of humor, and its downbeat ending, the film captures the outrage about the military dictatorship that ruled Greece at the time of its making.
As the Greek working class today struggles against austerity and the political dictatorship of the bankers, join us for a film recounting an earlier struggle of Greek workers against their rulers.
This film showing is a fundraiser for Socialism 2012. A donation of $5-$10 is requested; nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. Snacks & drinks will be served.
