A discussion with people who were there recalling what happened and how lessons we might have learned then could apply to the struggle now.
In 1988, hundreds of people seized and occupied a large, abandoned University of California, Berkeley-owned house on Haste Street. Before police raided the house a week later, the occupation created an amazing community and faced tough internal challenges. Those who were there remember it as a transformative experience.
June's Long Haul oral history project will explore what happened with people who participated. The oral history project happens at Long Haul the third Sunday of every month.
