U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee: $50 million more for East Africa Mobilization
This week the U.S. Senate Armed Services Committee voted to add $50 million to the draft version of the fiscal 2013 Defense bill, for surveillance and intelligence support to Ugandan troops, U.S. Green Berets and Navy Seals, who are, according to the Obama Administration, hunting East African warlord Joseph Kony. Others say this has nothing to do with stopping Kony or stopping mass atrocities, and that, if it did, the U.S. would be encouraging the democratic forces in Uganda, Congo, Central African Republic and/or South Sudan.
Listen now:
Captain Gregory of the U.S. Special Forces with Ugandan troops in the Central African Republic where, the Obama Administration says, they are hunting phantom warlord Joseph Kony, April 19, 2012. Others say they are hunting oil, cornering Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, checkmating China, and bolstering Yoweri Museveni, one of the most brutal dictators in Africa, to do it.
