SST’s 2012 Sam Shepard Festival includes a community symposium focusing on Shepard and the American West. Sponsored by Stanford’s Continuing Studies Program, this all-day event takes place on Saturday July 28, culminating in the evening performance of Curse of the Starving Class. The Symposium includes lectures, performances of some Shepard short plays, a panel discussion with SST artists, and a wild-west barbecue. Professor Frank Murray (Performing Arts Department, Saint Mary’s College of California) will deliver the keynote address. Panelists include Emma Creedon (Humanities Institute of Ireland, University College, Dublin), Stanford Professors Bill Eddelman, Rush Rehm, and Adrian Daub, and SST guest artists Marty Pistone, Courtney Walsh, and Ben Fisher.
