Water and UCSC Expansion: Connecting the Dots
Sunday, April 29th
7:00-8:00pm @ Kresge Rm. 159, UC Santa Cruz
A panel of four local activists will explore the role of water supply and usage in the proposed development into the forest of the North Campus.
The panel will include Rick Longinotti, founder of Santa Cruz Desal Alternatives and the Right to Vote on Desal Coalition; Wicahpiluta Candelaria, Rumsen Ohlone speaker and singer; Natalie, a former UCSC student and member of the Save Upper Campus Coalition; and Gary Patton, well-known local environmental attorney and author of the County's successful growth management program.
The panelists will offer their views on university expansion, the role of water conservation and the proposed desalination plant in the facilitation of that expansion, the character of the upper campus as a sacred site, and the intrinsic value of the upper campus forest.
Admission is free and refreshments will be served.
