Green Party Congressional Candidate Carol Brouillet is holding a campaign kick-off party on Saturday, April 28 from 3 – 10pm at the Willow Park Condo clubhouse at 500 W. Middlefield Road in Mountain View. Confirmed guests include luminaries from the activist community including Cindy Sheehan, Peter Phillips, Richard Gage, Paul Rea, and Mary Ann Thomas. Music will be provided by Rebecca Cross, Vic Sadot , Jeremy Goodfeather and Brian Wallace.

Ms. Brouillet is running in the June primary for Congress in the 18th district which includes most municipalities between Redwood City and Scotts Valley. The new primary rules create an open congressional primary (voters can cross party lines and vote for whomever they choose) however, only the top two vote getters advance to the November ballot. Brouillet is aiming at the number 2 slot so she can face the Democratic incumbent head-on in the fall.

For two decades Ms. Brouillet has been involved in activist causes ranging from anti-war to 9/11 truth to monetary reform, organizing and hosting events especially in the Bay area in support of many progressive causes. The major issues Ms. Brouillet is pressing this campaign season include monetary reform, defending civil and human rights, reining in corporate power, ending active military operations in Afghanistan and immediately starting to reduce our military footprint across the globe.

Cindy Sheehan, peace activist and 2008 San Francisco congressional candidate will speak at 7pm. Ms. Sheehan was radicalized after the death of her son, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, in Iraq in 2004. Peter Phillips, past director of Project Censored which publishes an annual book of “The Top 25 Censored Stories of the Year,” will also speak. Dr. Phillips is now president of Media Freedom Foundation, and a host of Morning Mix on KPFA.

Speaker Richard Gage, AIA has been an architect for 23 years and is the founder of Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth (AE911Truth) which focuses primarily on the destruction of World Trade Center Tower #7—the 47-story building not hit by an airplane that collapsed anyway. AE911Truth focuses solely on the forensic study of the explosive evidence of the buildings, not delving into culpability. Paul Rea, PhD and former professor of humanities, has been an anti-war and environment activist for decades and authored Mounting Evidence- Why We Need a New Investigation of 9/11, published in 2011. Mary Ann Thomas is a local organizer and member of World Can’t Wait (formerly Not In Our Name) and has been active organizing against torture and war.
