Raging Grannies Call Out Facebook on Its Support of CISPA
Facebook supports the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) legislation. The Raging Grannies are calling them out on that.
Cybersnooping legislation called CISPA (the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act) is moving quickly through the House. Our internet privacy is once again under attack and the Raging Grannies are once again on the streets and on the internet taking action.
CISPA would allow companies, like Facebook, and the government to bypass privacy protections and spy on your email traffic, text messages, even filter online content. This legislation is being promoted under the guise of protecting America from cybersecurity attack. The truth is the language is so broad it would carve out large exceptions to privacy rights of internet users.
Members of the Raging Grannies Action League don’t like what FACEBOOK is up to. Facebook supports this bill while admitting there are troubling aspects to the privacy issues. Facebook’s promise that they will not make improper use of the doors opened by this legislation is beside the point. They have betrayed their users on privacy issues before.
