On Tax Day, We Paid Ours,
Now It’s Millionaires’ Turn
Tuesday, April 17, 12 Noon
Fox Plaza Post Office, 1390 Market
(at Larkin, # 6,9,21,71 buses)
Join us as we leaflet taxpayers at local post offices on April 17th as they race to get their federal and state taxes post-marked by the 12 midnight deadline. Our message: We Pay Taxes! Stop the State Cuts! Tax the Millionaires. Sign the Millionaires Tax ballot initiative. .
The California Alliance for Retired Americans (CARA), Senior Action Network (SAN), and Planning for Elders in the Central City (PECC), in partnership with the Health and Human Services Network of California, have been opposing cuts to essential services in the California budget for years. Since 2008, California has made $15 billion in cumulative cuts to In Home Supportive Services, MSSP, Adult Day Health Care, Medi-Cal, Education, CalWORKS and other health and human services. This year, the Governor is proposing another $2.5 billion in cuts. This must stop. That is why CARA is supporting the CFT/Governor’s ballot measure to raise taxes on the wealthiest in California (and put an end to the continual cuts to essential services).
