SAN FRANCISCO, CA– Root Division proudly presents New Growth 2012: Art Taking Shape, an exhibition of artwork made by students and instructors in our Youth Education Program. The opening reception, held on a Saturday from 5-8 pm, is free and open to the public. It will feature live performances by several Bay Area youth organizations, including Out of Site Center for Arts Education, Cuicacalli Escuela de Danza, The Golden Gate Philharmonic, and a special appearance by The Flat Broke Puppet Company. Throughout the evening there will be free hands-on art activities for the whole family, live screen-printing, face painting, and plenty of free healthy snacks & refreshments onsite.

The exhibition features creative endeavors in painting, sculpture, drawing, and mixed media made by elementary, middle, and high school students in our Youth Education Program, and this display is accompanied by artwork from our artist-instructors. In addition, we will host an Open Studios during this event, where many of our artist studios will be open to the public, offering visitors of all ages the opportunity to view the spaces as well as the completed and in-progress works by the 18 artists in our Studios Program.
