The news from Syria makes our Sunday discussion of "Syrian revolution fights Assad's genocide" (the lead article in the current News & Letters, available on line at http://www.newsandletters.org) all the more urgent.
The Left seems confused: if Assad mouths opposition to the U.S. government, does that mean that we should give it a pass on his genocidal actions? Can the enemy of my enemy be only my friend?
