Youth, parents, seniors, and community allies agree that we need free MUNI for youth:
* Youth need MUNI to attend school.
* Low-income youth lacking bus fare face truancy penalties.
* State-funding for school buses is being drastically cut.
* Youth are profiled in bus sweeps for proof of payment
After considerable pressure, the MTA Board has agreed to vote on Free MUNI for Youth in its April 3 meeting.
Everyone should have free transportation. Fares are not supposed to fund transportations systems. Downtown business’s profits are made possible because MUNI brings them their customers and workers, but downtown business pays NOTHING to maintain MUNI. That’s why MUNI is having a new round of service cuts and fare increases.
We demand:
Free MUNI for Youth!
No Service Cuts or Fare Increases!
Make Downtown Business Pay!
