The Fukushima tragedy began one year ago, March 11, 2011. The international nuclear industry met and devised a plan to block media coverage shortly after the Fukushima disasters, and the Obama administration called off additional testing for radiation in the US. But UC Berkeley School of Nuclear Engineering tested and found elevated levels of radiation in SF Bay area food, milk, soil and water. Speaker Prof. Akira Murakami is fluent in English. His talk will cover: how people are still living in what should be “Exclusion Zones”; campaigns for mothers and children; radioactive contamination spreading through food and waste material; and the cover-up by the government and the media.
