Mayor Lane Releases History of Community Contacts
On Sunday February 19, Mayor Don Lane e-mailed me the following list of meetings he had with groups and individuals in the community in his capacity is Mayor. This is a new and important effort by Lane to make his regime more transparent. Whatever differences I have with Lane (and they are legion), I commend him for doing what no other Mayor of Santa Cruz has done. Admittedly specific names aren't always mentioned, which is important. It sounds like he may not have recorded names when the meetings were held--something that should be done with regularity by all elected officials and by the highly paid department heads as well. Specifically, it would be interesting for Council Member Coonerty and his Council majority to reveal the lobbyist meetings they've had.

Here is my calendar from the week I began my term as mayor up until February 19, 2012.
I think this a correct representation of the scheduled meetings and events I attended in connection with my role as mayor. I did not include personal social events or events that I went to on my own (as opposed to events I was invited to in my capacity as mayor)
This also does not include casual conversations at events or in the hall near my office or on the street… nor does it include phone calls, which don’t make it into my calendar.
I also did not include the Project Homeless Connect classes I participated in almost every Monday and Wednesday night in January and February. I do not teach these classes as a city council member—they stem from my volunteer role with Project Homeless Connect.
