Training for Signature Gathering to Put
the Millionaires Tax on the California Ballot
Mon, Feb. 27 4 PM

Training for signature gathering to put the Millionaires Tax on the California ballot is beginning. The initiative must have at least 500,000 signatures by March 18, 2012 in order to qualify for the November ballot.
The Millionaires Tax, if enacted, would raise $6 billion dollars per year, by raising income tax by 3% on income between $1-2 million, and raising income tax by 5% on income over $2 billion. Unlike the Governor’s and other proposals, the Millionaires Tax would be permanent rather than temporary, and would not tax those with lower income. 3/5 of revenue would go to K-12 and higher education, with the remainder to local governments to restore services to children, seniors, public safety, and infrastructure.
