Karl Schaffer, Saki, Jenna Purcell, Kaylie Caires, and Jane Real use interactive computer graphics, dance and text to tell the stories of women who made mathematical history with their discoveries. Karl Schaffer's choreography draws on the women's theories, circular movements and the Escher-like patterns of tessalated imagery to bring the heroines of mathematics to life, beginning with Hypatia, the ancient astronomer, teacher and politician who was killed by a Christian mob. Music and choreography by contemporary female mathematicians Vi Hart and sarah-marie belcastro rounds out the evening which also features choreography by dancersJ Purcell, Caires and Real.
