Occupy Wall Street West - the Late Shift
Photos from Occupy Wall Street West evening march, San Francisco, January 20, 2012
Departing from Bradley Manning/Justin Herman Plaza at 5pm, the Occupy Wall Street West evening march helped liberate Occupy Oakland's action bus from police and proceeded up California to express solidarity with protesters locked down since morning at the Bank of America on Market Street. From there, marchers returned briefly to Market Street before taking a detour through the Tenderloin and past the state and federal buildings.
The protesters then marched north to Van Ness and Geary, where a group occupied the old Cathedral Hill Hotel, which has been purchased by California Pacific Medical Center, part of a large state health facilities conglomerate. Police on foot and motorbikes confronted the crowd, and several protesters were pepper sprayed. At around midnight a small group was still inside the hotel, with police preventing anyone else from entering.
