STRIKE BACK SATURDAY: Join Occupy Redwood City on a Big Bank TOUR OF SHAME!
OCCUPY REDWOOD CITY
LEADS "TOUR OF SHAME"
TO BIG BANKS
If you missed the first bank tour, don't miss the second! This Saturday morning in downtown RWC, Occupy Redwood City will lead their second "Tour of Shame" march protesting the crimes of big banks like Wells Fargo and Bank of America. After their first successful action in December, the group is back to keep holding the banks accountable for their actions, as well as to educate the public. Occupy RWC will be providing bank patrons and passers-by with information about how to move their money into local banks or credit unions.
The Tour has two main goals: To hold banks accountable for their role in the financial crisis, and to educate the public on banks' crimes. Roger Brina, who participated in the first Tour of Shame, feels positive about RWC's second march. "I really enjoyed the last bank march," he says. "Some people even came up to us and thanked us for what we were doing, which was really gratifying as well as humbling. It's an inspiring feeling to Occupy together with like-minded people." Indeed, Occupiers are finding that the movement is also a way to connect with neighbors.
Occupy has been taking hold across the Peninsula: Other Occupy groups have been established at Stanford and in Palo Alto, Mountain View, and Half Moon Bay. Occupy RWC's event is being dubbed a "Strike Back Saturday," similar to Occupy San Jose's weekly "Financial Fridays" march against the banks.
Occupy RWC convenes every Friday evening at 5pm on Courthouse Square. For further information, please contact Paige at thepillhousepapers@gmail.com.
