The Central Valley Ujamaa Kwanzaa Celebration, Thursday, December 29, 2011 at the Haggin Museum, Victory Park, Stockton, CA.

Museum opens at 1:00 p.m., Kwanzaa program is 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Kwanzaa is a celebration of the first fruits of the harvest. The Central Valley of California is the "Greatest Garden in the World." San Joaquin County is the 7th largest ag county in the United States.

Job creation and career development utilizing cultural identification, technical education and environmental justice is the essential message for regional youth to take from our Ujamaa Kwanzaa celebration.

Year round the Haggin Museum provides a unique opportunity to experience "world class" culture in context of the bounty of the Central Valley of California. Special regional guests will highlight past, present and future Cooperative Economics, building upon our "hidden jewel" here in Stockton, California.

According to Michael Harris, Director, California Black Farmers and Agriculturalists Association, the legacy of Moses Rodgers and other historic Stockton leaders will highlight our family and community celebration of the “first fruits, of the agricultural harvest.”

Anyone interested is invited to attend. African attire is optional, come and celebrate your first Kwanzaa or your 45th year.

Sororities, fraternities, individuals, clubs, churches and organizations are invited to participate. Community information tables will encourage the spirit of Kwanzaa 365 days a year.
