In this teach-in, Spencer Graves will discuss the power of the media and its role in US Democracy. In particular, he will talk about how rising income inequality in the US since 1947 has correlated with media consolidation and runaway inflation in the costs of political campaigns. In addition, he will reflect on the failure of the Anti-Vietnam War movement to challenge the power of the media to shape our society.

For those who are interested in further examining the question of the media's influence in our society, you might also consider attending a showing of the film "The War You Don't See," which will be shown at the San Jose Peace and Justice Center (48 South 7th Street) on Friday, November 18, 7:00pm and Saturday, November 19, 2:00pm.

Please Note: We will be sitting on the ground, so please wear comfortable clothing and bring something to sit on if needed.
