Dan Mulhern, Senior Advisor, Families and Work Institute; Co-author, A Governor’s Story: The Fight for Jobs and America’s Economic Future
The impact of the recent economic crisis was felt especially intensely in Michigan, the heart of American manufacturing. As the state’s governor from 2003 to 2011, Granholm was on the front lines of a series of battles that began in the Great Lakes state before spreading across the country. During her eight years of leadership, Granholm tackled creating new jobs and reworking health care, rebuilding manufacturing industries and repairing the education system, in attention to attempting to restore public faith in the local and national economies. Join us for an exclusive conversation with Governor Granholm and her husband and co-author, Mulhern, as they discuss Michigan’s unique struggles, how the state weathered the economic storm, and what advice they can offer other policy makers and citizens.
