In the Light of Reverence is a beautifully rendered account of the struggles of the Lakota in the Black Hills, the Hopi in Arizona and the Wintu in California to protect their sacred sites. The film juxtaposes reflections of Hopi, Wintu and Lakota elders on the spiritual meaning of place with views of non-Indians who have their own ideas about how best to use the land. The film captures the spiritual yearning and materialistic frenzy of our time.
Johnella La Rose will be also be speaking about her experiences organizing around Sogorea Te (Glen Cove).
This film is part of a month-long series on indigenous resistance.
This event is FREE!
