Oct. 22nd PROTEST to Stop Police Brutality Info/interviews on Setting the Standard kpfa

by payaso
The October 22nd Coalition to Stop Police Brutality, Repression and the Criminalization of a Generation has been mobilizing every year since 1996 for a National Day of Protest on October 22nd, bringing together those under the gun and those not under the gun as a powerful voice to expose the epidemic of police brutality.

he U.S., Black, Brown and other poor neighborhoods are treated like occupied territory by increasingly militarized armies of law enforcement. People are harassed, with massive campaigns of “stop and frisk”*, criminalized, brutalized, murdered for their perceived status – socioeconomic, immigration, mental health, and/or racial, gender or sexual identity. Charles Hill killed by Bart police at Civic Center Bart and Kenneth Harding shot down in S.F. Bayview by SFPD over a $2 muni fare! Oscar Grant, Raheim Brown, Brownie Polk, Derrick Jones, Andrew Moppin, Gus Rugley, Fred Cook, Guy Jarreau, Vihn Bui, Jodie Woodfox, – just some of the lives stolen from the Bay Area, while across the country from city after city police murder is at epidemic proportions! *New York police, for example, are on target in 2011 to stop and frisk 700,000 people, 85% Black and Latino.

October 22 -- a day to connect all the pieces of the whole “war on the people” being waged: The total illegitimacy of “stop and frisk”, the outrageous injustice of mass incarceration, the systematic criminalization of a generation, police brutality and murder-- with protest and determined political resistance!

KPFA??? Whatta buncha HYPOCRITES. Remember Nadia FOSTER.

Exactly what did KPFA management, the local or national board ever do or say to those responsible for authorizing an on site police action against a minority female producer by a corrupt management group?

Nothing.

The majority of staff responsible for this travesty of justice remain on staff, in management or on air positions where they continue to maintain a KPFA corrupted by a white/male dominant caste system -all for personal power. This corrupt management and on air group are mediocre talents who reap perpetual employment from said corrupt management structure.

They live a lie, earning their bread crying out (on air) for justice against repression, all forms of oppression and police brutality. Meanwhile they turn a blind eye to their own participation at KPFA, in a racist, sexist belief system that affords them and their weak willed, faux progressive 'in name only' liberal friends, a cool radio gig.

More accurately they should say, join us in supporting an ongoing platform of racism, sexism, persecution, police brutality, union corruption, retaliation, coercion and oppression whenever it benefits us and our friends.

Please.
