Occupy Oakland Fills Out and Infrastructure Tightens on Day Four, 10/13/11: photos

by Dave Id
As the infrastructure supporting the occupation in Oakland continues to solidify, the lawn at Oscar Grant Plaza has become nearly full with tents. While there has been music throughout the occupation thus far -- from electronic dance parties to drum circles to open mic hiphop and spoken word -- Day Four saw the first scheduled musical concert in the plaza amphitheater featuring poetry and hiphop performances by artists Jabari Shaw, Ras Ceylon, MC Lovelle, Boots Riley, and more (powered by the generator donated by Lupe Fiasco). General Assemblies continue to be held every evening and a number of committees work throughout the day on the various tasks necessary to meet the needs of the occupation. Plans for Day Five include the first action outside of the camp, an anti-capitalist march, and an evening vigil for Troy Davis.
