A panel discussion and film screening examining Arab, Persian and South Asian LGBTQI issues in the context of the current Middle East wars, featuring prominent Bay Area authors, educators, and activists. Topics will include the Arab Spring, the "Syrian Lesbian Blogger," Orientalism and more, featuring:
*Rabab Abdulhadi: Co-Author of Arab and Arab American Feminisms, professor of Ethnic Studies at SFSU
*Alia Suad al-Ghabra: Artist, educator and member of multiple queer Arab organizations including Helem (Lebanon), Aswat (Palestine), and al-Qaws (Palestine/Israel)
*Lily Haskell: Member of Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC)
*Linda "Happy" Hyder: Lesbian arts activist, photographer
*Kate Raphael: Lesbian Jewish writer, photographer and anti-war activist affiliated with Queers Undermining Israeli Terrorism, the Women in Black and International Womens Peace Service

*Chris Lymbertos: Diirector of generation FIVE, an organization aimed at ending sexual violence
