Hella Occupy Oakland, Day One, Surveying the Scene Just After Dark, 10/10/11: video

by Dave Id
Here's a quick teaser video from the scene at Frank Ogawa plaza in Oakland at 7pm tonight, the first day of Occupy Oakland. Tents are up. Medics have established themselves under a blue tarp near the center of the plaza. Lots of people are listening to various speakers on an amplified sound system. The vibe is good after a diverse crowd of well over five hundred people from across the East Bay gathered earlier in the day. Since this is the first night, it is unknown what police may do later. Organizers are asking for supporters to come and stand with Occupy Oakland tonight to help hold it down.

More media from Day One will be coming later, including recordings of the first hour of speakers after Occupy Oakland kicked off at 4pm...
