Occupy the Northwest
The Occupy Seattle economic justice vigil is facing a mass arrest scene today in Westlake Park downtown (10/4/2011), while several Occupy actions are getting started in Oregon.
The three general assemblies held in Portland have attracted up to 300 people, while the facebook organizing group now has 10,000 members. The kickoff rally for Portland is scheduled Thursday at noon at the waterfront park by Burnside bridge, and is expected to have many participants. The site of the occupation zone has not been announced but there are rumors that it won't be waterfront park (where the homeless often are shunted) and might be a park block more central to downtown. Additional rallies and events have been planned in Salem and Eugene.

Occupy Seattle has been going on for 5 days. The arrest of people refusing to vacate tents in Westlake plaza is breaking news for Wednesday evening, so I'm going to link to the first good videos coming out on youtube. There should be better information later. At least 24 people have been arrested. Many participants have vowed to return to the park later in the week
This is a pretty good film clip in the middle of the arrest situation. Plenty of downtown workers and onlookers are able to join the scene.
