Inside the Egyptian Revolution
Overthrowing President Hosni Mubarak was the easy part. Illusions of the Army as an agent of change have disintegrated. Today the Egyptian people come to grips with the realities of state power and the complex task of formulating a popular consensus for a new democratic and socially equitable Egypt.
Sharat G. Lin discusses how it started, the social forces at work, Egypt in context of the Arab Spring, and what lies ahead. Dr. Lin is president of the San Jose Peace and Justice Center. He writes on global political economy, the Middle East, labor migration, and public health, and has lived for many years in the Arab World.
