Tomato Picking and Pickling Adventure ~ October 9

CUESA has organized a very special field-to-jar experience with Happy Girl Kitchen Co., known for their organic pickles and preserves. Pick tomatoes in the morning, then pickle them in the afternoon! The bus tour leaves from San Francisco and starts with a guided walk around Live Earth Farm, a small, organic, education-oriented farm in Watsonville that's a frequent partner of Happy Girl's. We’ll harvest dry-farmed Early Girl tomatoes and bring them to Happy Girl Café in Pacific Grove, where the pickling masters will teach us to make Italian-style pickled tomatoes. We’ll enjoy a delicious soup-and-sandwich lunch (made with local ingredients) and leave with a jar of tomatoes and a recipe for making more at home.
