Prison Hunger Strike Resumes!
Support the Prison Hunger Strikers!
Rally at the CDCR!
From July 1-20, thousands of prisoners in the state of California, composed of all races, went on a hunger strike. They united around five demands raised by Pelican Bay State Prison inmates directed against gross human rights violations.
1. End Administration Abuse and Group Punishment
2. Abolish the Debriefing Policy and Modify Gang Status Criteria
3. End Long Term Solitary Confinement
4. Provide Adequate and Nutritious Food
5. Expand and Provide Constructive Programming & Privileges
The courageous protest of the prisoners, as well as the solidarity of thousands of people around the world, has been successful in exposing the illegal and inhuman conditions that tens of thousands of inmates are subjected to at the hands of the California’s prison system. However, the California Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation (CDCR) refuses to address the five core demands and continues to deny prisoners basic human rights. Prisoners throughout California will resume their hunger strike Monday, September 26th and continue the struggle until the CDCR ends its illegal policies and practices.
WED. OCT. 5, 12:00 PM-2 PM
