This month Atheist Advocates of SF features a young atheist organizer who is considered one of atheism’s most brilliant speakers, and that is why we are flying him in from Columbus, Ohio to speak to you.

JT Eberhard is a full time organizer for the Secular Student Alliance and co-founder of the Skepticon convention. “Coming Out Skeptical” addresses the need for atheists to come out of the closet and to not merely focus on their atheism, but on the human obligation to be reasonable. This talk has been given to standing ovations at the American Atheists National Convention, Dragon*Con, and elsewhere.

Eberhard will make arguments drawn from history, philosophy, and current events for why a better world is dependent on our ability to be candid with others about the reliability of their beliefs, as well as our ability to be forthright about our own.

Ed Buckner, the former president of American Atheists, described JT’s talk at the Des Moines convention as “being present at the inauguration of a new Atheist star.”

Our own Greta Christina’s take on JT: “As a writer, JT Eberhard is smart, funny, honest, and totally fearless. As an organizer, he is passionate, dedicated, inspired, and as determined as a bulldog. And as a speaker, he tears the roof off the sucker. We are insanely lucky to have him on our side.”
