RALLY to call on Russia to Support Syrian Revolution

WHO: About one hundred (100) members of the Syrian Bay Area community and others concerned about atrocities committed by the Assad regime. This protest is organized by the FreeSyria_SanFrancisco_BayArea Facebook page and the Northern California chapter of the Syrian American Council, a nationwide grassroots organization supporting civil liberties and human dignity for the people of Syria.

BACKGROUND
Despite international condemnation of the Assad Regime and it's 6 month crackdown on Syrian citizens protesting one-party rule across Syria, Russia announced in August that it would maintain arms sales to the Assad Regime. Military hardware, supplied by Russia, has been used in recent months to shell and bomb Syrian cities and villages. Russia also continues to block any UN Security Council resolution to condemn the Assad regime and to allow observers and foreign media to enter Syria.

The Syrian American Council and the FreeSyria_SanFrancisco_BayArea Facebook page invite you to join us to rally in front of the Russian consulate in San Francisco on behalf of all those who have lost loved ones in Syria and on behalf of all political prisoners still languishing in jails throughout Syria.

What we want:
* A meeting with the Russian Consul General in San Francisco to discuss Russia's role in the current Syrian crisis.
* Recognition by Russia that Bashar al-Assad has lost his legitimacy to rule Syria.
* A change in Russia's stance regarding Syria at the United Nations.
