Togonon is delighted to present their second solo exhibition by Fan Lee Warren entitled “Shifting Layers of Consistency”. This show feature paintings and drawings inspired by fables, myths and stories Fan Lee's elders told her when she was growing up in Birmingham, Alabama and Chicago, Illinois.

Warren’s art depicts personal chronicles that speak to a collective African-American legacy. By blending historical and contemporary issues she has created narratives that dissolve the boundary between past and present.

Art historian Dr. Bridget R. Cooks states: “Warren's paintings of domestic and international scenes of the African Diaspora, show the connectedness of rituals from the past to the present and asks her viewers to think through time to consider how much our world has changed, and yet stayed the same throughout the generations”.
